OSCE TRAINING PROGRAMME

For training at our Surrey training centre


Option 1:

NMC OSCE Adult course for nurses – 3-day course

Course structure:

Day 1: Is classroom based.

Emphasis on APIE, Care planning, documentation, and patient-centred care scenarios.

Day 2: Skills practice.

Half-day of OSCE skills and half-day of supervised practice. Skills include:

  • Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT)
  • Basic Life Support – cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
  • Peak Flow
  • Fluid Balance
  • Removal of Foley catheter
  • Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections
  • New OSCE skills like pain assessment and nasogastric tube management

Day 3: Full mock NMC OSCE Exam.

Individual feedback will be given to help identify areas of improvement.

Day 4 and 5:Intensive supervisor-led practice.

Focus on areas requiring improvement identified during the mock OSCE. Additional practice on communication skills, including verbal, non-verbal, and written communication, with simulated patients. Six stations will focus on scenario-based holistic patient care, while four stations will assess practical clinical skills.

This course structure incorporates the latest NMC guidelines and reflects the 10-station OSCE format.
